Newsletter November 15-19

Glad you found our blog.  I am hoping that this can be our primary mode of communication.

Our poetry performances were wonderful today!  I was so happy that most of the children remembered to bring back their poetry journals.  Several of the children even memorized the entire poem and they bravely performed alone after each group performance.  I will add another poem on Monday.  Please practice this new poem again this week and have your child return their poetry journal on Friday.

If your child brought home a packet of work, please have them complete this and return it to school.   I decided to staple together all of their morning work, since many of my students are not completing their bellwork in the mornings. If your child came home with work please encourage them to do their best work in class.  This was the first time I did this, and will adjust the amount of work in the future since each child has a different amount of time to complete their work.

On Friday, November 19th all of the first grades will be performing two Thanksgiving songs at the Awards Assembly.  You are welcome to come and watch.  We will be performing at 10:00 and 10:45, but our awards will be given out at the 10:00 assembly.

December book orders are due December 1.  Thanks for those that ordered last month.  We received about 20 books for our classroom library because of your orders.  If you would like me to hold any of your December orders for Christmas let me know and I will happily do that.

Please continue to read, read, and read some more with your child.  Include the decodable books and poem in your nightly reading. Remember that November Reading Records and Golden Sneaker calendars are due December 1.
