Newsletter November 22-26

This week we will not have spelling words or a new poem, since it is a short week.  I also will not send home math homework on Tuesday so that you can enjoy your holiday without the added stress of a math sheet.  Please though, if possible continue to read with your child during the break.  Last month, I had several children not turn in their reading records.  This is worth 25 points, but for their reading progression it is worth much more than that.

Our poetry performance was wonderful again last week.  I am so amazed that some of my students take the initiative and memorize the poem. We are learning how to be a good audience too through these performances.  I will start sending home Christmas poems when we get back from our Thanksgiving break on November 29th.

I thought our First Grade "turkeys" did a great job singing at the assembly last Friday.  Thanks for coming to support your child.  Congratulations to our Dallas for earning the "Catch the Vision" award for November.

It is definitely getting colder outside, so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather.  The children go out for break even in this cold weather, so a coat, gloves and boots would be appropriate.

I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner.  JC's grandmother has graciously offered to help our class with Gingerbread houses on December 16th at 10:30 a.m.  If you could possibly donate a bag of candy(red and green M&M's, small candy canes, foil wrapped Santas, gummy bears, starlight mints, etc.), a box of graham crackers, or a bag of stick pretzels please send it with your child before December 14th.  Thank you so much!  If you would like to come and help assist that morning, I would love to have you. Let me know if you would like to come.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
