Newsletter March 11 - 15

Tomorrow, Spring pictures are scheduled.  Your child's picture will only be taken if you send back an order form with the amount enclosed.

I am still working on items that we discussed at SEP conferences.  Please give me a couple more days to get those things done and sent home with your child.  For example, I told  some of you that I would send home extra books for your child to read for the 100-book challenge, or that I would copy off fluency passages or nonsense words.  Please feel free to contact me anytime with concerns.  SEP conferences are not the only time that we can discuss the needs of your child.

I sent home a Dual Immersion survey permission slip home a couple of weeks ago.  Mrs. Sauceda's son is investigating the effects of Dual Immersion classrooms vs. traditional classrooms for an SUU project.  I am going to send those home again because I haven't received many back.  If you would like your child to participate please send the note back signed, or if not sign that you would not like them to participate.

Tomorrow I will send home the March Scholastic book orders.  Those will be due on Wednesday, March 20th.  I have a link on this blog where you can quickly access the site to order books online, which is the easiest way to order.

On Tuesday, March 26 at 11:30, Mrs. Wininger's class is going to join us for a picnic and Easter Egg Hunt at the Canyon Park.  For that hunt we are asking for each child to donate one dozen plastic eggs filled with candy.  If you could also tape your eggs so that they won't open up that would be great.  You can start sending those candy-filled eggs anytime until Tuesday, March 26.  We also need parent volunteers to help deliver the eggs to the park and help "hide" them.  We need parents that day at 11:00.  If you could help that day please let me know. We will leave the school at 11:30 and first have the Easter Egg hunt and then enjoy a sack lunch at the park.  I will send home a permission slip by the end of the week.

Friday, March 15 is the end of the 3rd quarter. I know, I can't believe it either!  I will not accept late work after that date.

Last week, we had green eggs and ham for Dr. Seuss' birthday.  Check out the line up of students getting seconds and thirds.  I had some students tell me "You are the best "cooker" ever!"  Happy Reading and enjoy your child in this spring-like weather.
