Newsletter March 4 - 8

Thanks to all of you for making time to come to your child's SEP conference this week.  I enjoy meeting with all of you.  Remember that school dismisses at 2:30 everyday this week, including Wednesday.

If you child has not passed off Sight Word List #7, I will be testing them this week on that list.    February's Reading Record is now due and I sent home a March reading record last week.  Please, please, please read with your child for 20 minutes five times each week.  I know some of you are doing that because a few of my students have read 50 books already for our 100-book challenge and some are not far behind that number.  Dalton and McKenlee have each read 40 books and Kaden has read 35!  Way to go!!

The PTA is sponsoring a book fair this week in the library.  If your child does not have money they will not be admitted to the book fair.  It might be a good time to check out the book fair before or after your SEP appointment. Grandparents lunch is tomorrow, March 5 at 11:30.  If your child's grandparent will be attending they can pick their grandchild up in my classroom right at 11:30.

In math this week we are working on comparing numbers, and one less, one more, ten more and ten less than a given two-digit number.  We will have homework every night this week.  Thanks for the invaluable one-on-one time that homework provides.  I will review Topic 9 this Friday, and test next Monday.

We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday a bit late--we will celebrate this Wednesday with green eggs and ham and some opinion writing (Why I like or do not like Green Eggs and Ham).

Thanks for all that you do to support your child's education.

Happy Reading!
