Newsletter March 3 - 7

It was nice to visit with many of you today, and I look forward to visiting with the rest of you this week.  Remember that we get out of school every day at 2:30, including Wednesday for SEP conferences.

February's reading record is now due.  Today we went outside to wave to Mr. Burton who was on the roof.  Last month the "reward" for the class that turned in the most reading records was to deliver a dessert to Mr. Burton, via a bucket and rope, on the roof.  My kids were excited to see him.  Next month, he'll kiss a pig.  Please turn in your child's reading record so that our class can have a chance to help his smooch the pig.  Please have those reading logs turned in by Friday, March 7 to receive a pizza certificate.

In math we are still working on addition and subtraction with two-digit numbers and place value.  I will finish up with Unit 8 by Wednesday and test on Thursday or Friday.  My plan is to test on Thursday so please make sure that Unit 8 homework is complete so that it will help them on the test.

On Wednesday, we will celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with green eggs and ham and some Dr. Seuss writing and read alouds.

If your child wants to participate in the Science fair this year, remember that the completed form is due this Friday, March 7.  Remember that I do not require the science fair, but encourage participation to those that are interested.  If you have any questions about this please don't hesitate to ask.  Science fair boards are on sale in the office for $2.50.

Happy Reading!
