Newsletter February 19-22

My son, "Mr. Ryan", as my students call him, plays basketball for Cedar High School.  They have played well enough this year that they made it into the state tournament.  The tournament starts this Thursday, February 21st with the first game at 2:30 at Weber State.  My family is going up to the tournament, and I will not be here Thursday and Friday.  I have lined up some fabulous subs to take my place.  Curriculum Night is Thursday, and my wonderful student teacher is comfortable and confidant with presenting the Reader's Theater that evening.  Remember that we will perform right at 6:00 so please have your child here then.  The performance will last for only a few minutes and then you can enjoy the Multicultural Night that is in conjunction with Curriculum Night or you can visit other classrooms.

If you have not sent the Field Trip permission slip back with your child please send it by tomorrow, Wednesday February 20th.  I don't want my sub to have to worry about calling parents the morning of the Field Trip.  Remember that we will be walking over to the Heritage Center that morning so please dress your child accordingly.

I sent home information about our school Science Fair, which will be held March 21st.  I do not require that your child participate in this Science Fair, but it is a great learning enriching activity.  If you have any questions about the science fair please don't hesitate to ask.

Congratulations to Alec, Dalton and Cason!  These three students have already read 25 books towards the 100-book goal.  Keep reading every night and send back the lists of books that  you child reads.

We had a fun Valentine's Day "party".  Thanks to Mrs. Mogensen, and Mrs. Christensen for helping supply sugar cookies, and to Mr. Rice for your daily help in my classroom, especially during our Valentine's Day party. My students were so excited to share their Valentine cards with their friends.  I even had one student tell me that "love was in the air!" I will post some pictures at the conclusion of this post.

Watch for SEP (parent/teacher conference) notes to come home next week.  I know I can't believe it's time again for that.  The year flies when you are having fun.

Happy Reading!

We managed to squeeze in a bit of computer time  on Valentine's Day!
