Newsletter February 4 - 8

I sent home a note about our 100-book challenge today in your child's homework folder.  This is such a fun incentive to get your child reading.  Most of the reading will need to be done at home, but you should be doing that already (20 minutes/five nights a week).  If you have any questions about the challenge please don't hesitate to contact me. 

There is a Valentine's Day note in your child's folder too.  It has a list of the students in my classroom.  If you choose to send Valentines with your child, please make sure that all students receive a Valentine.  We will not "deliver" these Valentine's until our class party in the afternoon.  I have two parents that have signed up to help with the party.  I could use a few more volunteers to help send items for the cookies that we will decorate.  Let me know if you could help out and I will give you an assignment.

I will send home the February Scholastic book order tomorrow.  These will be due on Friday, February 15. 

We are using a web-based computer program twice a week called Ticket to Read. Your child can progress through this program at home if they are interested.  The website is tickettoread.com.  The username is their firstname.lastname and their password is just their first name. We have logged in many times so they should be able to log in by themselves.  

Just a reminder that Curriculum Night is Thursday, February 21 at 6:00.  We will be performing our Water Cycle Reader's Theater that night in our classroom.  Mark your calendars for this event!
